Workshop from Chacruna Explores Planetary Healing and Justice-Based Psychedelic Care
San Francisco, CA – September 2025 — The Chacruna Institute for Psychedelic Plant Medicines is pleased to announce its upcoming live workshop: “Ecology, Spirituality, and Psychedelics,” taking place Monday, October 6, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM PST / 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM EST.
As psychedelic therapies move into the mainstream, this workshop offers a timely invitation to expand the conversation—placing ecology, spirituality, and planetary health at the heart of psychedelic care. Participants will explore how a justice-based, spiritually integrated, and ecologically conscious model of healing can extend the benefits of psychedelics beyond the individual to communities and the Earth itself.
Led by thought leaders Dr. Jamie Beachy, Dr. Stephanie Michael Stewart, and Dr. Bia Labate, this workshop centers reciprocity, Indigenous wisdom, and ecological grief as essential elements of ethical psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT).
Participants will:
- Describe eco-chaplaincy as an emerging specialization and its professional training pathways
- Discuss the relationship between planetary health and human well-being
- Understand how nature connectedness and psychedelic use can synergistically support mental health and resilience
- Explore Earth-based rituals, nature-immersive therapies, and frameworks that decenter human exceptionalism in healing
This 3-hour workshop is ideal for eco-chaplains, spiritual care providers, psychedelic therapists, climate activists, researchers, and all those interested in weaving ecological consciousness into sacred and therapeutic practice.
“Whether we’re in the plants and/or the plants are in us, it’s medicinal… There’s something in the forests that is really important for our health…”
Dr. Stephanie Michael Stewart
“Whether we’re in the plants and/or the plants are in us, it’s medicinal… There’s something in the forests that is really important for our health, and we have effectively put ourselves in cages. They might have granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, but they are, effectively, cages in urban settings,” said Dr. Stephanie Michael Stewart, holistic psychiatrist and Board Member at Chacruna Institute.
