Ergot 1

Ergot grows as a parasitic filamentous fungus, especially on rye. The sclerotium is a black-violet, slightly curved, club-shaped structure a few millimetres to a maximum of six centimetres long, which develops in place of a grain kernel. Ergot was also known as "grain cones" or "wolf's teeth"
