Call for Submissions – Global History of Psychedelics

Chacruna welcomes submissions to their Global History of Psychedelic Plant Medicines series.

[starbox id = 128]

Our ongoing Global History of Psychedelics series highlights the dynamic ways that historic traditions, cultures, and research spaces have contributed to the field of psychedelics.

The pieces in the series so far have highlighted chapters from the Expanding Mindscapes: A Global History of Psychedelics collection, edited by Erika Dyck and Chris Elcock, which was released with The MIT Press in November 2023.

BUT we’d like to see the series move beyond this collection to highlight even more stories of psychedelics and plant medicines around the world. There are exciting stories about how sacred plants and psychedelics have been used in different parts of the world, and we’d like to add those histories to our growing understanding of psychedelic cultures and practices.

We seek submissions that explore historical topics, but may include other approaches from anthropology, philosophy, religious studies, gender & sexuality studies. We especially seek papers from areas, regions, or cultures that have been under-represented, but are open to your ideas!

Final contributions should be around 700 words and use APA citations.

If interested in submitting a blog post, please email both Erika Dyck, [email protected], and Jessica DeWitt, [email protected], with a 150-word proposal OR full draft and a brief 30-word bio. Proposals will be published and accepted on an ongoing basis.

Please read our Chacruna Chronicles Author Guide and publishing agreement before submitting.
