Join our discussion on the growing intersection of Judaism and Psychedelics, and its role in the renewal of Judaism through altered states of consciousness. We’ll explore how psychedelics are changing Jewish culture and how Judaism itself is becoming an expression of and a container for psychedelic experiences. We’ll also discuss the role of Judaism as a form of set and setting, providing a framework for psychedelic preparation and integration. This community forum will be led by Madison Margolin, an author, journalist, editor, consultant, educator, and a reference for the Jewish-Psychedelic universe. The interviewer in this forum will be Henrique Antunes, who has a Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of São Paulo (2019), and is the coordinator of the Ayahuasca Community Committee of the Chacruna Institute for Psychedelic Plant Medicines.
Madison Margolin is a journalist based between New York and Jerusalem. She specializes in covering the intersection of Judaism and psychedelics. Her first book, Exile & Ecstasy, is a gonzo memoir about this topic, from her perspective of growing up in the Ram Dass community. She is also the cofounder of both DoubleBlind Magazine and the Jewish Psychedelic Summit. Currently, she works as a contributing editor to Ayin Press and hosts a podcast on the Be Here Now Network called Set & Setting.
Dr. Henrique Fernandes Antunes has a Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of São Paulo (2019), with a research internship as a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley. He holds a M.A. degree in anthropology from the University of São Paulo (2012), and a B.A. in social sciences (2006) and anthropology (2008) from the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP-FFC). He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Centre d’Étude des Mouvements Sociaux (CEMS) of the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS). He is also a member of the research group Religion in the Contemporary World at the Brazilian Center of Analysis and Planning (CEBRAP). He is the coordinator of the Ayahuasca Community Committee of the Chacruna Institute for Psychedelic Plant Medicines, and a researcher at the Interdisciplinary Group for Psychoactive Studies (NEIP). He specialized in the fields of urban anthropology, anthropology of religion, anthropology of secularism, and the sociology of public problems.
