I’m proud to have completed a 9 month internship within the Development & Operations team at the Chacruna Institute. Working with the team in person and virtually, I can say that the team is made up of humble, hardworking, culturally informed scholars who care about people and the future of plant medicines. Throughout my time at Chacruna, I was supported by Lorien, Development and Operations Officer; Bia, Executive Director; and many dedicated colleagues across departments. Interning at Chacruna allowed me to gain access to the broader psychedelic ecosystem, and through high-quality courses and community dialogues, I deepened my understanding of the history, present, and future of psychedelics and plant medicines. Chacruna also expanded my understanding of Reciprocity and I look forward to carrying these teachings with me as I continue my journey into this ecosystem. While Chacruna’s impact is massive, it’s important to recognize the dedicated team of grassroots individuals, community supporters, and generous donors who pour love and power into its engines and I’m proud to say I’ve played a part in its growth.
Because of the Chacruna Institute, culture, diversity, education, and Indigenous leadership continue to be elevated in the psychedelic field at large. The future is brighter because Chacruna exists.
