Chacruna Institute

WHO WE ARE:

The Chacruna Institute for Psychedelic Plant Medicines, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization co-founded by Brazilian anthropologist Dr. Bia Labate and American psychologist Dr. Clancy Cavnar, based in Northern California and with strong ties to Brazil and Mexico. We promote reciprocity in the psychedelic community, and support the protection of sacred plants and cultural traditions. We advance psychedelic justice through curating critical conversations and uplifting the voices of women, queer people, Indigenous peoples, people of color, and the Global South in the field of psychedelic science.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Chacruna Institute is a grassroots non profit organization committed to promoting reciprocity in the psychedelic community and supporting the protection of sacred plants and cultural traditions. We are currently seeking a creative and motivated individual to join our team and manage our Social Accounts and weekly newsletter. 

COMPETENCIES:

  • Excitement for the mission, vision and values of the organization
  • General understanding of the contemporary psychedelic landscape
  • Proven experience of management of offerings similar to academic and popular courses
  • Relevant work experience is a plus
  • Excellent organizational and self-management skills
  • Successful track record with managing multiple Social Media accounts. 
  • Basic video editing skills and general familiarity with video editing software
  • Ability to optimize content strategically to drive results 
  • Ability to establish brand awareness 
  • Strong and consistent communication skills 
  • Knowledge of social media management tools such as Later, Canva, Slack, Excel, etc. 
  • Understanding of analytics tracking and reporting 
  • Positive attitude, attention to detail with good multitasking and organizational ability 

DUTIES:

  • Management of all Chacruna social media pages including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Discord 
  • Scheduling multiple social media posts each day 
  • Promoting Chacruna events, projects, articles, and announcements on all platforms
  • Creating new TikTok and Reddit accounts for the organization 
  • Creating and sending out our weekly newsletter created on Mailchimp 
  • Monitoring of Chacruna email accounts
  • Creating large-scale marketing campaigns for major Chacruna projects, fundraisers and events. 
  • Working in partnership with the Executive Director to accomplish the organization’s mission and vision through all operations and programs to grow the organization and achieve both globalization and financial sustainability 
  • Working with the Event Director and Development Coordinator to create fundraising strategies and identify/evaluate new potential funding opportunities 
  • Creating and implementing growth strategies for Chacruna’s following 
  • Collaborating with our Indigenous Reciprocity Initiative and Chacruna Latinoamerica branches to achieve growth and streamlined integration with Chacruna
  • Supporting Chacruna’s Psychedelic Justice Studies curriculum and relationship with students
