Chacruna’s Legal Resources Companion to the Guidelines for the Awareness of Sexual Abuse is available in English and Spanish and is downloadable free of charge. Our hope is that the Guidelines for the Awareness of Sexual Abuse will make the Legal Companion less necessary. The Legal Companion documents are offer ready at-hand information on a country-by-country basis regarding government laws regarding sexual abuse, and overviews of centers and resources that are available. They provide information about policies and laws as well as contacts and places where one can promptly seek information and support from trustworthy organizations should an incident of abuse occur. It is currently available for Peru, Brazil, Costa Rica, Bolivia and Mexico. Like the Guidelines, The Legal Resources Companion was created through collaboration with people across the ayahuasca community, including legal and sexual abuse experts and knowledgeable practitioners and participants in the countries they focus on. These collaborative efforts have been crucial to this initiative and Chacruna views them as continuing to be pivotal in moving forward with spreading awareness about sexual abuse across ayahuasca communities.
